Kenneth F. “Hutch” Hutchinson passed away on Friday, September 28, 2018, at the age of 95. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 5, 2018, at Strode Funeral Home. His funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at the Tryon First Assembly of God Church, in Tryon, OK, with Rev. Loren Starling and Dr. Andy Bowman officiating. Interment will follow at the Tryon Cemetery.

Hutch, as he was called, was born on August 28, 1923, in Tryon, OK, to Frank Hutchinson and Thelma (Stubblefield) Hutchinson. Hutch attended Tryon schools. Hutch served in two infantries during World War II, the 43rd Infantry and 169th Infantry, U.S. Army, from 1943-1945. He carried an M1917 Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) 30 caliber Squad Assault Weapon, and served in the Philippines, Luzon, Guadalcanal, New Britain, New Guinea, and Okinawa. He saw hand-to-hand combat, and out of 150 soldiers ordered to take Hill 595, only he and 10 others survived.

Hutch married Betty Breeden on May 26, 1951, in Chandler, OK. They had one daughter, Linda. He was a mechanic at Harley Thomas Ford in Stillwater, OK, from 1951-1972, and a factory worker at Swan Rubber in Stillwater from 1972-1983. He was a member of the Tryon First Assembly of God Church, and an avid hunter and fisherman.

Hutch is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Thelma Hutchinson; one sister, Laverne Mercer; one brother, Harold Hutchinson; ex-wife Betty Hutchinson; as well as two nieces, Patty and Jeannie Mercer.

Hutch is survived by one daughter, Linda Jones and husband Greg; one nephew, Darrel Mercer and wife Bonnie; one granddaughter, Shannon Cagle and husband Chris; two great grandchildren, Kymber Sage and Kyle Sage; and one great-great grandchild, Ophelia Scott.
