Obituary for Annie Mae Duckett

Annie Mae Duckett, 87, died peacefully in her sleep at her home in Stillwater on Sunday, November 6, 2022. She was born to the late Andrew and Rachel Jackson on August 23, 1935, in Foreman, Arkansas. She was married to Maurice Duckett for over 20 years until his demise.


Annie graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Idabel, Oklahoma. She later moved to Los Angeles, California where she worked for Bronson Clothing Company for over 20 plus years.


Annie returned to Idabel where she took care of her mother Rachel until her mother’s demise. She later moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma where she became a member of the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Reverend Calvin Miller, Pastor. She served as an usher for many years.


Annie was a remarkable cook, and she loved cooking for her family and friends. She enjoyed making pound cakes, sweet potato pies, and yams. She enjoyed the food shows, news, westerns, and sports. All televisions in the house were on at the same time. One would say, she did not want to miss anything. She enjoyed sports and worked many of the OSU Cowboys football games.


Annie was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Duckett, and son, Carl Duckett. Her Survivors include her two children, Maurice (Yolanda) Duckett of Los Angeles, California, and Linda (Maurice W. III) Lee of Moore, Oklahoma. She has two brothers, Levester Jackson, and Edward Jackson, and three sisters, Lula Jackson, Velma Roper, and Doris Jones. She has nine Grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.


A “Celebration of Life Service” will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 902 South Knoblock Street, Stillwater, Oklahoma.
