Obituary for Dwight "Ike" Cravens

Dwight "Ike" Cravens, 73. beloved father to DeEtta Cravens and Cassandra Marie, passed from this life on January 20, 2023. It seems impossible to capture the legacy of kindness and the genuine love that he left behind on this side of Heaven. For the man who never met a stranger, his life was full of meaningful relationships that brought him endless joy and a full heart.

Ike was born on August 24, 1949, to Versie and Tarvie Cravens in Webbers Falls, Oklahoma. He loved "Webbers" and stayed connected to the community long after he relocated to Stillwater to study agricultural economics at Oklahoma State University. After graduating from OSU, he started his own general services business, which earned him the reputation of being able to fix anything and everything. He also worked as an electrical lineman for the City of Stillwater for more than 20 years.

In his younger years, Ike had a passion for riding horses and motorcycles and bowling at Frontier Lanes. In his older years, he enjoyed gardening, selling produce, and playing with his "watch cat," Spot. Always, Ike had a gift for striking up conversation with strangers and turning them into friends, for tinkering with anything with a power button, and for using his gifts to help those in need.

Ike will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, kindness, and generosity that will never be forgotten. The family would like to thank all the people who filled his life with joy and adventure.

The family he leaves behind are his daughters, DeEtta Cravens, of Washington, DC, and Cassandra Marie, of Portland, OR, who he lovingly called his "little monkeys"; his newborn grandson, Oliver, who he nicknamed "Pretty Boy"; his older sister, Barbara Clark, of Tulsa, OK; and her children, Jennifer Clark, of Midwest City, and Jimison Clark (Connie), of Fort Worth, TX. He is preceded in death by his brothers, James "Son" and Joseph "Joe" Cravens, and his parents, Tarvie Jane and Versie "Boog" Cravens.

Friends can say goodbye to Ike at Strode Funeral Home on Thursday, January 26, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. His daughter, DeEtta, will be present from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 28, at 10:30 AM at Strode Funeral Home in Stillwater and at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Webbers Falls. The family welcomes flowers or memorial contributions, which can be sent to Strode Funeral Home.
