James Thomas Mott Jr., life-long Stillwater resident and true family man, died suddenly on December 20th, 2022 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK. A celebration of life will be 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Meditations, 1205 N. Country Club Rd. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.
Jim was born on November 25th, 1951 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was the first child of James Thomas Mott and Mary Elizabeth Keith. He graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, and was a devoted member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. He spent much of his formative years as a Food and Beverage Manager for Residential Life at OSU. Upon his death, he ran Brothers Wine & Spirits, an independent store in Cushing, OK.
Jim was a devoted father, husband, and family man. He valued his strong family ties more than anything else, and some of his fondest memories were the Mott Family beach vacations and the Florida Condo. He loved talking music, and reciting classic movie lines. Most of all, Jim was a kind heart with a truly genuine spirit. He made an impact on every person he met, never discriminated, and was always first to offer a helping hand. Many people, no matter how well they knew him, considered him a mentor, a friend and of course, the life of the party. He is deeply missed by many people.
Jim is predeceased by his parents, James Thomas Mott and Mary Elizabeth Mott.
He is survived by his wife, Susan L. Mott; his two daughters, Shannon Rae and Kalin Cierra Mott, of Austin, TX; his siblings, Keith Mott and wife Mary Dawn of Tulsa, OK and sister Kathy Yates Redwine and husband Thomas of Denison, TX and Steven Mott and wife Jane of Oklahoma City, OK. Also survived by nephew Blake Mott of Buena Vista, AR, and nieces Aly and husband Rich Alsop of Edmond, OK and Emily and husband Dr. Matt Carmichael of Tulsa, OK.
