Obituary for James Lawrence Pittman
James Lawrence Pittman, 70, of Stillwater, Oklahoma left this world on Thursday May 25,
2023, and joined his brothers and sisters in the kingdom of Heaven. A visitation will be from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at Strode Funeral Home. Services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2023 at the First Christian Church in Stillwater. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.
James was born December 13, 1952 in Oklahoma City, OK to Lawrence Edward
Pittman and Versie Alvera Green. James moved to Stillwater, OK in 1998 and instantly
fell in love with the community. He began working at MPower, Inc. on August
20, 2007 and remained there until he retired in November 2018. After retirement, James
attended Adult Day Services at MPower, where he discovered his love for arts and
crafts. James took each masterpiece home and turned the walls of his bedroom into his
very own art gallery.
As an avid participant in Special Olympics bowling, James brought home first place
ribbons and gold medals nearly every year. James loved to watch the sports channel
and attended OSU sporting events every chance he could. James had a deep love for
animals, and visits from this therapy dogs Jackson, Finley, and Peter always put a smile
on his face. Above all, James loved attending church and celebrating his love for Jesus
through gospel and worship music.
With his contagious smile, inspiring determination, and kind soul, James was truly a vessel for God's love to be felt by all who met him.
James is survived by his roommates Rickey Beasley, Patrick Lile, and his friends and
caregivers of MPower, Inc.
Pallbearers for the service will include Danielle Santiago, Shola Onyango,
Kristin Hurst, Patrick Lile, Rickey Beasley, and Vanessa Grossnickle.
