Obituary for Jane Ezell Price

Jane Ezell Price, 93, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2023. A small private family service will be held at a later date. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.

Born in Enid in 1930, she attended Oklahoma City Public Schools and graduated from Classen High School. As a child she spent much of her time with her extended family in Marshall. Jane was a proud alumna of Oklahoma A&M where she was active in many campus organizations and a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. Upon her graduation in 1953 she set out to see the world as a flight attendant ("Kiwi") with American Airlines in New York City. A talented artist and actress, she thrived in New York and continued her education at Julliard while flying with American.

It was in New York where she met her future husband and fellow Oklahoma native Walter (USMA 1950) as he was completing his graduate work at Columbia. They were married in April 1955 and soon moved to West Point when Walter was assigned teaching duties at the Academy.
It was here they welcomed their first two sons - Stuart and Douglas. The "Cold War" took them to Germany where Jane had their third son - Roger. Jane and Walter loved the army life and made numerous friendships that lasted their entire lives.

With their families in Oklahoma City and Tulsa, Walter accepted a position as an active-duty ROTC instructor at Oklahoma State University. It was in Stillwater where Jane and Walter found their true home and Jane gave birth to their youngest son - John. Following Walter's deployment to Vietnam and his final assignment at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, the Price family returned to settle permanently in Stillwater.

Jane was active in the community as a volunteer for numerous programs and causes, a devoted and reliable home-room mother, and a fixture at Town and Gown Theatre for many years both as an actor and director. Jane's home was never without an animal (or several) and her love of animals led her co-found the Stillwater Humane Society. She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.

Jane was preceded in death by her husband.

She is survived by her son Stuart and his wife Beverly; granddaughter, Kelsey Menifee and husband David; great-grandson Milo; sons Douglas, Roger, and John and daughter-in-law Suzee; grandchildren Quentin, MacGregor, Payton and Ellery.

For those wishing to honor Jane's memory, the family requests that donations be made to the Stillwater Humane Society, 1710 S. Main St., Stillwater, OK 74074 or to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 516 W. Third Ave., Stillwater, OK 74074.

Her family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the dedicated and compassionate staff of Perry Green Valley Nursing Home who cared for Jane in her final years.
