Justin Shane Springer, 35, of Stillwater made his journey on April 15, 2023. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at the Otoe-Missouri Cultural Building. Burial will follow in the Otoe-Missouri Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.
Justin was born to Galen and Vera (Lyons) Springer on October 26, 1987 in Pawnee, Oklahoma. He grew up in the Perkins/Stillwater area and was known as "the Cimmaron kid". After graduating from the Riverside Indian School, he attended Bacone College for a bit for his college career. He was also a member of the Otoe Eloska Warrior Society. Justin was a beloved father, brother, son, nephew, cousin and friend to many.
Justin loved powwow music blasting war hoots like he was taking leads. He also enjoyed oldies and 90s hip hop, as well as playing basketball and softball. He loved playing pool and singing karaoke in his free time. He was also a great cook, always in the kitchen, chef'n it up, or throwing it down on the grill.
Mostly, he loved his son and his nieces and nephews. If you saw him, you could always count on him to say "haw!" and "ways!" He could make anyone laugh with any of his jokes. Another one of his favorite things to say was "I'm Pawnee". He had that pride in him, no one could take away. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
Justin was preceded in death by his mother Vera Jeanine Lyons; his maternal grandparents Horace and Marcella Lyons and his paternal grandparents Joseph Jr. and Anna Mae (Bassett) Springer.
He is survived by his son Nokose Horace Springer of Oklahoma City; Tvske Medrano of Oklahoma City, who he always considered a daughter; father Galen Springer of Fairfax; brother Joseph Springer III of Midwest City; Sister Jacy Springer and niece Gracie of Norman; brothers Bryan and Chebon Long of Okmulgee; sisters MaryAnna Springer of Perry and Annie Lynn Rice of Shawnee; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins/brothers. Long Live Springtime!
