Obituary for Lavonna Pearl McNeil
LaVonna Pearl McNeil, 90, passed away at home July 5, 2023. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 10, 2023 at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.
LaVonna was born to James and Ruby Longan on January 4, 1933. She was the youngest of six children, two sisters Geraldine and June and three brothers Ermine, Leland (Jack) and Robert (Bus). All had preceded her in death. She graduated from Younge High School in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was united in marriage to Marlin McNeil on December 24, 1949. They adopted Shirley and Thomas in 1952 and Greg was born in 1962. Lavonna and Marlin served Christian Churches in Tennessee, Kentucky, Kansas, West Virginia, as well as Oklahoma. She also served with the family in Brazil, Alaska, Canada and made two trips to Russia and Rome.
Lavonna is preceded in death by both parents.
She is survived by her husband; son Gregory and his wife Cathy McNeil; Daughter Shirley Peter; grandson Bryan and his wife Norah McNeil, and Blake McNeil; her great granddaughters, Ava and Hadley McNeil; as well as many nieces and nephews.
