Obituary for Marilyn Waters Seig
Marilyn Waters-Seig, age 83, of Stillwater passed away on August 1, 2023, in Flower Mound, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at the First Presbyterian Church in Stillwater. Marilyn will be laid to rest in Fairlawn Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home and cremation is in charge of the arrangements.
Born on September 1, 1939, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Marilyn was the daughter of Walter and Nadine (Thomas) Baugh. On July 11, 1992, she married Louis Seig in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Marilyn pursued her passion for education while working as a faculty member at Oklahoma State University in the school of Hotel and Restaurant Management. While there, she earned her PhD in Home Economics Education, specializing in food science research.
She earned her PhD in Home Economics Education from Oklahoma State University, specializing in food science research. She later became a full-time Professor at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, OK. Marilyn was a dedicated supporter of Oklahoma State University, holding season tickets to football games, wrestling, girls basketball, and baseball. She loved hosting gatherings for friends and family in her home. Marilyn was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Stillwater, where she played a key role in designing the new kitchen and developing the Saturday Brunch Ministry. She was also a valued member of P.E.O., forming many lifelong friendships.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Tom Baugh, and stepson Joe Seig. She is survived by her son Robbie and wife Karen; daughters Jamie and Jana; stepchildren Sam and wife Tegan, Melissa and husband Mike, and Mary Theresa. Marilyn also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
