Obituary for Nancy L Anderson

Nancy Louvenia (Blumer) Anderson, 81, died April 2, 2023 in East Bernard, TX. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 7, 2023 at the Lissie United Methodist Church in Lissie, Texas. Burial will be 10:00 a.m. April 14, 2023 in the Elm Grove Cemetery in Stillwater, Oklahoma and a Memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Strode Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater.

Nancy was born to Bertram Bruce and Adella Marie (Kirby) Blumer on October 18, 1941 in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She was a 1959 graduate of Ponca City High School. Nancy went on to Westmar College in Lemars, Iowa where in 1963 she earned her B.A. in Elementary Education.

Nancy met Harry Hugh Anderson at the St. Paul Mission and they were united in marriage February 10, 1968 at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Ponca City, now known as the Albright United Methodist Church, where Nancy was a member. The built their home in Eagle Lake where they lived from 1976 to 2009. In 2009 they moved to the Chesterville area where they built their retirement home. They adopted Pamela Jane at two years old, and Barry Dale at one week old.

Nancy taught school in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, St. Paul United Methodist Mission in Tampa, Florida, in Le Mars, Iowa, and Ybor City Mission School located in the section of Tampa populated by people of Latin descent, largely Cuban. She was under an appointment of the board of home mission and church extension of the Evangelical United Brethren Church where she was recently honored in a service in recognition of her appointment as a missionary teacher.

Nancy also held a membership of the Lissie United Methodist Church and an associate member of the Chapelwood United Methodist Church in Houston. Nancy enjoyed being a farm wife, crafter, reader, sewer, researcher of family history, and a volunteer in the archives room in the Eagle Lake Winterman Library.

Nancy is preceded in death by both parents; her son, Barry Dale and sister Mary Grace Ulrich.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Harry of Wharton, TX, and other relatives in the Stillwater and Ponca City area.
