Obituary for Richard Wayne Tenbrink

Richard Tenbrink, age 71, of Stillwater, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, November 17th, 2022 after a brief battle with cancer. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 26, 2022 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with burial following in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Rick was born August 11th, 1951 to Everett “Bud” and Betty Brown Tenbrink on their family farm outside of Dodge City, Kansas. While he was a teenager, his family moved off the farm and to Stillwater, which became his cherished hometown. After Rick graduated from Stillwater High School in 1969, he went on to receive both his bachelor’s degree in engineering and a master’s degree in electrical engineering at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater.

In 1978, Rick met Juli Heaton, who was the sister of his best friend’s wife, Edie. Rick and Juli went on to have two children, Tim and Stephanie. He was a dedicated family man who took his family and traveled across the U.S. and the rest of the world, where his favorite past times were eating cookies and collecting ball caps, and being the King of Romance.

Rick was dedicated to his job, working for Honeywell as a young man, and later both ConocoPhillips and DuPont, jobs which moved him across the U.S. and overseas. He spent the later part of his career with DuPont in Parkersburg, West Virginia and Hope Mills, North Carolina.

In 2005, Rick retired and moved back to Stillwater, where he spent his time caring for his mother at the family home, and dangerously wielding increasingly complicated lawn equipment.

Rick was predeceased by his father, Everett, his mother, Betty, his younger brother, David, and his younger sister, Sharon.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Juli; his younger brother, Rod (Barbara) Tenbrink, of Las Vegas, NV; his son, Tim (Brandon) Tenbrink, of New Kensington, PA; his daughter, Stephanie (Joshua) Taylor, of Pittsburgh, PA; and a grandson, Wade, of Pittsburgh, PA.
