Obituary for Robert Roy Memmott
Robert Roy Memmott - dedicated husband, family man, and friend of many - passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, on April 27, 2023 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK. Those who knew and loved him are deeply saddened by his sudden death but are comforted in the knowledge that he was surrounded by family and friends during his final days. A service of remembrance will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2023 at the First Christian Church, Stillwater. Following the service, a Celebration of Life will be held at Robert and Tandi's home, 1614 N. Denver St.
Robert was born in Indianapolis, IN on May 4th, 1961. He was the only son, and second child of three, of Robert and Emily Memmott. Robert graduated from Yukon High School and went on to attend Central State University in Edmond, OK, where he pursued his interest in Economics and became a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity where he gained lifelong brothers.
It was through one of these brothers, Jeff Silverhorn, and Jeff's wife Gigi, that he met the love of his life Tandi (Couch). They were married June 15th, 1991, and this summer would have marked the 32nd celebration of their commitment to each other. Robert embraced Tandi's young son Ryan as his own and their family was complete with the addition of Audrey and Nathan.
Robert was known for his strength, integrity, intelligence, and sense of humor. He had just completed his eighteenth year with Stillwater Building Center, where he worked his way up to co-owner and Store Manager. He was a valued member of his community and gave back in many ways including volunteering with and serving as board member and president of Habitat for Humanity.
He enjoyed being outdoors and spent much of his free time working on his house and yard. This work often included bringing to life the many visions of his artist wife. He loved his backyard chickens, gardening, and fishing. He was an avid reader of history and science fiction, and collector of stamps and comic books. He was a selfless provider to his family, always putting their needs before his own.
Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Emily Memmott, and older sister, Deborah Memmott.
He is survived by his wife, Tandi and their children, Ryan, Audrey, and Nathan; father and stepmother, Robert E. and Sara Memmott; younger sister and husband, Suzy and Blake Gibson; father and mother-in-law, Richard and Sandra Couch; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ross and Lori Couch, and Sandy and David Pezdirc; and many nieces and nephews.
