Ron Bear, age 75, of Stillwater, died Sunday, September 17, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.
Ron was born to Porter and Venis (Edwards) Bear on September 5, 1948 in Seminole, Oklahoma. Ron married Heather Bear on January 18, 1986 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He served in the Army during Vietnam. He was a carpenter and concrete worker at Oklahoma State University for over thirty years, until his retirement.
He enjoyed anything and everything outdoors. He was a multi-sport athlete who played basketball, softball, baseball, golf, bowling, and disc golf throughout his life. He was also an avid fisher and hunter.
He is preceded in death by his father Porter Bear; mother Venis Bear; brothers Wiley Bear, Pawnee Bear, Thomas Bear, and Johnson Bear; and sisters Nora Lefthand and Dora Haney.
Members of his family include wife Heather Bear; sons Chance Bear, Casey Bear, and Jason Bear; daughters Bobbi, Sheshena, and Ronni; daughter in-laws Alma Bear and Brandi Bear; grand-children Lorenzo Bear and Callie Bear; brother Porter Bear Jr.; and multiple in-laws, nieces, nephews.
