Obituary for Sally Jane Ahrberg
On Saturday, January 21, 2023, Sally Swim Ahrberg, loving daughter, wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away at age 92.
Sally was born on March 22, 1930 to Paul and Georgia (Presbury) Swim. She grew up in Stillwater and spent summers on Gray Horse reservation with her grandparents. She met the love of her life, Bob, in High School and married him on June 1, 1952. They had 62 years together.
Sally earned her Bachelor's degree in Physical Education at Oklahoma State University. She went on to teach Physical Education at OSU and was known among many for her strong sense of caring for her students.
Sally had a passion for service, for her family and her friends. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta (BZ) Fraternity while at OSU. As an alum, she became Pledge Advisor, Chapter Advisor, Chair of the Advisory Board and Chair of the Corporation Board. She was a 50-year member of Chapter U P.E.O. and a member of The Browning Society. Sally Volunteered for years with Judith Karmen Hospice and was a Stephen Minister as well as serving on St. Andrews Alter Guild.
Sally was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her parents, Paul and Georgia and her sister Joyce. She is survived by her children Fred (Janet) and Anne (Mark) and five grandchildren, Leslie Lawson (Jeremy), Robin Salters (Carlton), Erin Speier, (Ryan) and Robert Mahoney (Ashlyn) and five great grandchildren, Wyatt, Ellie, Grant, Finley and Andrew, her sister-in-law Patti and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 30, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Stillwater, OK. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be given to Stillwater Humane Society: https://hspets.org/donate/.
