Todd Bernell Shinault, 66, transitioned from this life on Friday, April 22, 2023 at the VA Hospital in Oklahoma City. A memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2023 at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.
Todd Bernell Shinault was born on August 24, 1956 to the union of Robert (Bobby) Eugene Shinault and Christine Fernita Lee (Shinault) Green. He attended CE Donart High School in Stillwater until joining the US Army where he later received an honorable discharge.
Todd was an avid reader and had a love for sports. He excelled at basketball - therefore earning the name "JUMP SHOT". His favorite team was the Pittsburgh Steelers. Todd had a charismatic personality, a distinctive laugh, a high sense of fashion and an undeniable love for his family and friends.
He accepted Jesus Christ at an early age under the guidance of Bishop F.D. Lawson and under the watchful/helping hand of his grandmother Birdie Linzy who was one the church mothers of the local Church of God in Christ. He later rededicated his life to Christ and was baptized at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at the leadership of Pastor Calvin Miller.
Todd was preceded in death by both parents and his grandparents Willie and Birdie (Vick) Linzy.
He is survived by his siblings Yolanda Owens and husband Jerry of Stillwater; Valessa Hagler of Stillwater; Muriel Shinault and wife Linda of Denver, Colorado, Dean Shinault and wife Stacy of Sachse, Texas and Robert Eugene Shinault Jr. and wife Cindy of Cushing; his aunts, Elnora Sanders and Willie Ann Pradia both of Stillwater; his companion Marie Edwards of Stillwater; his son Adrian Freeman of Oklahoma City; He also leaves to cherish his memory four grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
