Obituary for Victor Raymond Hayes

Victor Raymond Hayes, age 86, died on January 1, 2023 at Legacy Village, Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Family will greet friends on Friday January 6, 2023 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at Strode Funeral Home,
The service will be Saturday January 7th, 2023 at 10 AM at Strode Funeral Home Chapel with burial
at Fairlawn cemetery. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangement

He was born September 6, 1936 in Enid, Oklahoma to Raymond F. Hayes and Grace Velma West Hayes.
He graduated from Enid high school in 1954 and attended Oklahoma University where he was a member
of the 1956 national championship football team. He graduated with a degree in Business

He and Rochelle Hausman were married, and they moved to Fort Lee Virginia, where he served in the
US Army. They had two children, Victoria Lynn Hayes and Jon Bradley Hayes.

He was married to Malinda Jones and had one son Bryan Jones Hayes.

In 1990 he married to JoAnne “Jody” Hart Bernhardt.

After his service in the army they moved to Denison Texas, where he managed his father’s trucking
business, as well as homebuilding.
In the fall of 1967, he was hired by IBM in their new business division in Houston.
In 1970 he returned to again run his father’s business.
Then it was back to Houston, where he opened an office and started arranging financing in the
commercial and multifamily real estate and equipment leasing business.
Then, in 1974 he moved to Phoenix and spent 15 years in the residential mortgage business.
In 1989 he returned to Enid and started working with longtime friends E.R. and Lou Andrew selling real
estate.

He is survived by his wife Jody, his daughter Vicki Cummins and her husband Randy, his son Brad, and
his son Brian and his wife Tamara, and by Jody’s children, Bret Bernhardt and his wife Ellie, Cindy Puterka and her husband Gary, Andy Bernhardt and his wife Terri. He is also survived by his sister Ann Shaff, sister Judy Hoistington and her husband Tom, and brother Jim Hayes, as well as 15 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and nephews and nieces.
