Obituary for William Peter Troy
William Peter Troy died on February 24, 2023 in Stillwater, Oklahoma at the age of 66. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 4th at 2:00 pm at Strode Funeral Home, 610 S. Duncan St, Stillwater.
Peter was the 7th of 11 children born to Patrick Joseph Troy Sr. and Mary Ellen Troy Matthews. He was born on December 31st, 1956. Peter was raised in McAlester, Oklahoma and it is there that he will find his final resting place. Peter was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Michael Kevin Troy, Kathleen Troy, Edward Henry Troy, Luke Anthony Troy, Lincoln Edward Troy; and nephew Ryan Troy.
During his school years, Peter played baseball, football, and slide trombone in the marching band. During his high school years, Peter joined various older brothers in Norman, Oklahoma. When he was living in Norman, he was employed by The Lloyd Norman Center. He then was employed by Townsco Construction firm. The job with Townsco allowed Peter to begin developing and learning his construction skills at Air Force bases throughout the U.S. and afforded him the opportunity to travel. It was during one of these trips that Pete discovered his love of golf. His athleticism provided him the opportunity to golf at some of the most prestigious courses in the country and at one time, he had serious aspirations to tour on the semi-pro league. Peter's love of golf was all-consuming, but he also had a passion for chess, and motorcycles. In December, 1993, Peter incorporated Troy's Remodeling and Construction Company and was an extremely skilled carpenter and builder. He acquired many skills in the construction arena in the Stillwater area for nearly 30 years. If you asked Peter what he was most proud of, it would undoubtedly be his daughter, Jennifer Brown and her three daughters, Micayla, Jenna Brown, and Kaydynce Troutman. He was also very proud of the reputation he built for his construction company.
Peter is survived by his daughter and three granddaughters, siblings Patrick Joseph Troy, Jr. and wife Linda, James Robert Troy and wife Jane, Thomas Jeffrey Troy and wife Melanie and children Michele and Taylor, Judy Troy and children Rachael and Skye, Jonathan Leonard Troy and wife Betsy and children Heather and Jason, and former spouse, Jeannette Tidd. Peter is also survived by a host of friends and golf buddies who have enough Peter Troy tales to fill volumes. Peter's laughter and his stories will be missed for decades.
