She was born Winona Faye Mathis on June 2, 1932, in Eakly, Oklahoma, the daughter of Andrew J. Mathis and Myrtle Lee (Henson) Mathis.
She married John J. Scott on February 10, 1949 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in February 1993.
Mrs. Scott was a loving mother to her two daughters and a devoted homemaker. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, quilting, crocheting, and watching old westerns on TV. For many years she also worked as a house cleaner. She also dearly loved playing with her two furry Shih Tzu grand-dogs - Kalani & Makena.
Mrs. Scott lived in Oklahoma most of her life, however as a young girl she lived a short time in Washington state and recounted numerous stories of her life there. In 1960, the family moved to Northern California where she raised her two daughters. In 1972, she and John moved back to Oklahoma where she resided until October, 2008, when she moved, due to health issues, to live with her daughter Jonnie in Avon, Indiana. She continued to live there until her death. Mrs. Scott was a devout Christian who attended church regularly until health issues prevented her from going.
She was preceded in death by her parents Andrew J. Mathis & Myrtle Lee Mathis Akins; her husband John J. Scott; three brothers Wiley Fugate, Olen Sweeney and Jack Sweeney and one sister, Lola Mae Bell.
Mrs. Scott is survived by her two daughters Jonnie F. Perry (David) of Avon, Indiana and Bonnie L. Cox (Gary) of Medford, Oregon.
