Richard George Murray died at the age 82 surrounded by his family in his home in Perkins, OK on May 29, 2016. A Celebration of Richard’s Life will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at the Wes Watkins Auditorium on the Oklahoma State University campus.
Richard was born on January 24, 1934 to George Roy Murray and Margaret Leona Ormsby. He fell in love with Nancy Lou Rhoads and the two were married on August 3, 1957 in Dallas Texas.

Richard attended Hasting High School, Southern Methodist University in Dallas TX, Missouri School of Mines in Rolla Missouri and Oklahoma State University in Stillwater OK. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree, as well as his PhD in Mechanical Engineering. Richard was a college teacher and a professor. He served as the Department Head of Mechanical Power Technology at OSU and he owned an Engineering Consulting Business. He belonged to American Society of Mechanical Engineers, SAE, American Bonanza Society, NRA, Quiet Birdman Society, 50 Caliber Shooters Association and Multiple Honorary Math Societies.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Roy Ormsby Murray.

Richard is survived by his wife, two sons, Justin Roy Murray, George Edwin Murray and his wife, Diane Renee Murray, six grandchildren: Brian Justin Murray and wife Amy, Stephen George Murray and wife Katy, Dillon Thomas Murray, Morgan Elaine Murray, Ross Anthony Murray, Anna Kathleen Murray, a step-granddaughter, Jonny Lane Ebert, and one great-granddaughter, Poppy Celeste Murray. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews: Jennifer Murray, Michael Murray and wife Dawn Murray, Robert Murray and wife Angela Murray. Richard was the Patriarch not only to the Murray family, but also to many members of Nancy’s family.
